Cynics would say that this dish is just an excuse for syrup consumption. OK, maybe not just cynics. Nevertheless, it's a great excuse to consume some syrup!
Ingredients
- 3 pieces of white bread
- 2 large free-range eggs
- 1/4 Cup of maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 pinch of salt
- 4 tablespoons of lightly salted butter (for cooking)
Method
Whisk the milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, eggs and salt together in a bowl.
Melt the butter in a large pan over medium high heat.
Soak the bread in the egg batter making sure that you coat both sides.
Cook until the underside of the bread is golden brown. Turn and cook the other side until golden brown and repeat with the remaining pieces.
Serve the french toast while it's still hot and enjoy.
